Place of residence 31.12. Regions (Uusimaa region divided in wellbeing services counties), the largest municipalities in the region (excl. Mariehamn and Kajaani) and Uusimaa region. These statistics apply the regional division of 1 January 2026 to the whole time series.

Main type of activity (labour market position)

Starting from 2005, the minimum age for employed persons in the employment statistics is 18, while the statistics have previously also contained data on the employment of underage people. The change is related to a rise in the minimum age for employment pension insurance.

Educational level

The Register of Completed Education and Degrees does not cover all qualifications completed abroad.

Country of birth

Continents have been classified according to Eurostats classification,
in which Turkey and Cyprus are part of Europe.
Citizens of non-autonomous countries are summed under the mother country.

Year

Statistical year is the calendar year a set of statistics concerns.
